Balanced Psychology Network was established in 2020, with the main trigger being the massive need within the community.
Over the past ten years or so, there has been a revolution in the provision of mental healthcare in Australia. A huge part of this has been the advent of Mental Health Treatment Plans which has made clinical psychology sessions vastly more affordable. Previously most GP’s plan A in the treatment of mental health conditions was to start patients on medication. Psychology sessions were almost deemed an extravagance. However with the government funding we have today, it’s much more likely that plan A is the commencement of psychotherapy. Medication remains an important foundation in the provision of mental healthcare, but it’s nice to have both options.
At the clinic our goal is to assemble a diverse group of psychologists who can cater for a wide breadth of people and presentations. We really want patient’s to ‘click’ with our psychologists. A crucial requirement of our clinician is that they must deeply care about the welfare of their patients, and be prepared to go the extra mile to provide optimal care.
A question that is often asked by patients is, “Am I really going bad enough to have to see a psychologist?”
A good response is, “You don’t have to write the car off to take it to a mechanic!”
